Huatulco, Mexico
Day 11 – 8:00 AM
Huatulco, Mexico
This newly developed resort area is near the village of Puerto Escondido. The area has nine bays with beautiful beaches (among the cleanest, safest, and least crowded on Mexico's west coast) and big waves (great for body surfing). Huatulco is becoming a major tourist destination, but with an eye to environmental protection, too (only 5% of the area can be developed, according to the current plans). There are now several major resort hotels up and running, with more scheduled. Exceptional boat trips to isolated bays and beaches are available and there are some facilities for deep-sea fishing. The snorkeling is also excellent here - it's the only place other than the Sea of Cortes along the Pacific coast that has good visibility and flourishing undersea life.

Day 13 – 8:00 AM
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Hollywood discovered this little fishing village back in the 1960s, and since then the luxury resorts and bougainvillea-covered villas have flourished in the delightful seaside climate. Yet hints of past tranquility remain: cobbled courtyards where the locals hold their markets, and superb sport-fishing just offshore.
