What's new in the shipyard? Check out these fabulous additions and updates! With two new ships on the rise and every cruise line pushing to make their ships the best, let's explore what's up and coming in the world of cruising as well as some exciting enhancements to existing vessels. Royal Caribbean Known for its constant innovations, Royal Caribbean isn't about to slow down anytime soon, with the latest addition to its fleet is scheduled to debut in 2009. Project Genesis This revolutionary ship will bring the best of land to sea with a never before seen Central Park feature. The center of the ship opens to the sky and features lush, tropical grounds, spanning the length of a football field. This public gathering place features quiet pathways, colorful gardens, and an overall unique outdoor experience. Holland America Adding to their sophisticated fleet, Holland America will launch their Signature-class ships this summer. The maiden voyage is set to sail in July aboard this exciting ship:
- ms Eurodam
Not only will the inclusion of a topside Pan-Asian restaurant provide a delectable dining option, but it's also sure to please the eye as it is surrounded by panoramic views. An Italian restaurant will also add to the dining variety. And, to keep with Holland America tradition, ms Eurodam will feature a beautiful art collection, including 17th century watercolor maps and oil paintings created by some of history's most famed artists. This vessel will also feature the latest state-of-the-art navigation and safety systems, ensuring its guest's utmost comfort while sailing the high seas. And, here's an exciting list of transformations taking place aboard some of your favorite cruise ships this year:
Carnival Cruise Lines In support of their "Evolution of Fun' enhancement program, Carnival has refurbished the following ships to incorporate the latest Carnival features:
- Fantasy
The Spa Carnival now includes 11 private treatment rooms, couples' rooms and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. An expanded art gallery, auction center and photo gallery have also been included. A 9-hole mini golf course is another new addition, as well as a water park equipped with waterslides and spray devices for guests of all ages to enjoy. - Destiny
The upgrades planned for this ship are to include a new kids club and teen spot. Outdoor movies are always a big hit, and guests can expect to watch them under the stars upon the new renovations. A new gift shop and photo gallery also add to the list of refurbishments.Perhaps the most noticeable will be the change to the décor. Destiny will have installed brand new carpeting and furnishing enhancements in the main areas of the ship, and new bathroom fixtures in the suite staterooms. Celebrity Cruises Celebrity always wants their guests to experience that 'new ship' feel, and have certainly delivered with the following refurbishments:
- Celebrity Summit
Fuel consumption is a concern of the past for Celebrity; the new engine aboard this ship is certain to conserve this valuable resource. In addition to its efficient engine, Celebrity Summit will feature brand new carpets, tile and upholstery. And, as a result of the new flooring, the Rendezvous Lounge will be expanded. Holland America Line Known for their "Signature of Excellence" program, Holland America has raised the bar once again with another fabulous ship:
ms Prinsendam After receiving the 'Signature of Excellence' enhancements, ms Prinsendam can now offer its guests refurbished public rooms and staterooms, and give extra attention to service, dining, enrichment programs and activities. Other upgrades include an "As You Wish" dining program and a Culinary Arts Center for kids. Norwegian Cruise Line "Freestyle Cruising" is what Norwegian Cruise Line is known for, and they've recently upgraded the following ship to include all of the "Freestyle" amenities:
- Norwegian Sky
This ship will now include major upgrades in its balcony and suite accommodations. And, new dining options, including a selection of six restaurants, are sure to please and cater to the "Freestyle" cruiser. Princess Cruises To stay true to their "Escape Completely" tag line, Princess has refurbished two of their ships with the following additions:
- Star Princess & Caribbean Princess
These fabulous Princess ships now include street-style café areas, brand new suites, and enhanced dining options. The 5th deck atriums have added a wine venue, where guests can treat their palate to a variety of rare wines paired with meats and cheeses to complement the taste.
